The Goal for 2010

Drawing inspiration from the movie "Julie and Julia," and other challenges I've seen on websites like goodreads.com and shelfari.com, I'm going to challenge myself this year in my reading.

My goal is to read at least 50 books this year. I do not see this as an unreasonable goal - I think I can easily read a book a week - even while going to law school. The logic being that though I may not get through a book every week, at certain points during the year (summer, spring break, etc.) I will be going through books faster than one per week. I actually think this may be kind of easy for me, but we'll see. I may be forced to eat crow.

The books have to be ones that I started in 2010 and finished in 2010. I have not yet started The Reef, so that will be the first. I also am allowing myself to include the books I read for my Law and Literature class, because it's my challenge and I can do what I want. I'll be spending a lot of time with those books, so they should count.

I will continue to comment on / review the books I read here on my blog. I will keep track of the numbers here also - in the box to the right.

Original? No. Challenging? Maybe. Narcissistic? Yes! But so what? It's a blog - of course it's self-centered.

  1. Brooke! i think that's an awesome goal. I wish i came up with it first! Did you watch Julie and Julie recently or something? I saw it on the plane ride here, and I loved it. It was sweet, that's how i would describe it. I have the book here with me, so i'm looking forward to reading that. Right now I'm reading Juliet, Naked though. But I really like it so far. Make sure you read Chelsea Handler's new book this year!! It comes out in March, I think. Also, I think you are a great writer, and you will make a great lawyer. I'm so proud of you for getting that internship! It's awesome that you are going to be Ally McBeal. Or the normal-sized person who ate Ally McBeal hahaha. I'm not calling you fat, i'm calling her anorexic. hence the normal-sized. yeah, anyway.

    Boop! haha

  2. We watched it last week. It was good, although Mike hates Meryl Streep all of a sudden. You're right, it was sweet.

Thanks for your kind words and compliments. I am pretty excited about the job - like so excited I couldn't sleep last night!

I hope your week goes well, and that you're happy and doing well! Take care.
