Lost in Austen (again)

I found it funny that Professor Stris brought up "Choose Your Own Adventure" books today in class. It reminded me to take another stab at Lost in Austen.

You'll recall that last time I turned left on my way to visit Jane at Netherfield, and was carried away by gypsies. So, today I'll turn right, and go to page 20.

Apparently, walking three miles without a care for my appearance has forced me to remove "love of walking" from my list of accomplishments and add it instead to my list of failings. Also, Miss Bingley and Mrs. Hurst think I have no style, taste or beauty. Add that to my list of failings.

Because I have never "covered a screen," which is evidently mandatory for all accomplished women, it's time to make a choice.

I have to choose based on what I think covering screens means:

1) If I think it means decorating the canvas of a screen with intricate paintings, then I must go to page 44.

2) If I think it means decorating the canvas of a screen with embroidery or stitching, I must go to page 17.

I choose option 2, and am going to page 17.

I'm right! Therefore, I can now speak French (wow - I must really be accomplished!) and I get to add this to my list of accomplishments. This has increased my chance of marrying tenfold. Now I'm to go on to page 25.

To be continued...

P.S. I cheated and checked out page 44, and all it did was tell me I was wrong and that my "ignorance is astounding." Ouch. I would have had to add my insufficient knowledge of embroidery to my list of failings, but I would have ended up at page 25 anyways.

  1. This sounds so fun...if I ever feel I have time to read anything other than law school assignments I'd love to give this one a try!
